Violin Recital

A few weeks ago, my violin teacher had a recital for all her students at one of her student's home.  She has sixteen students. Even though she is a violin teacher, she teaches both piano and violin. I am her only violin student. For the recital, I played a piece called Concert in C minor by O. Rieding. while my violin teacher accompanied me on the piano.  Oskar Rieding (1840–1918) was a German violinist who composed many pieces for violin and piano.

I have been playing the violin for 1 year, and I practice everyday.   I practice a little bit during the week, but more on the weekends. It's hard to find time to practice the violin because I also have to practice the piano. The violin is a harder instrument than the piano because it is harder to made a beautiful sound, and to make the violin not sound squeaky.  That is something I still need to work on. I like both instruments equally and can't decide which one I like better.  Soon, I will also start learning to play the viola. The viola looks very similar to a violin, but it is a little bit bigger and has a lower pitched sound.

Do you play an instrument?

If not, what is your favorite instrument to listen to?

  1. Dear Sarah,

Once again Bravo! I loved watching and listening you play the violin along side your music teacher.

I really thought you played the violin rather well.
Is it difficult to place you fingers in the right position while playing the violin.

No I don't play any musical instrument but if I had the chance I would dearly love to learn how to play the harp.
I do own a harp but it is a much smaller size harp which sits on your play.

Once again thank you Sarah your musical post.

    From your pal,
    AA.

      Dear AA,

Thank you for leaving me such a lovely comment. It's nice that you have a harp. Do you know any notes on the harp? Would Bianca like to play it also? Is it hard to press the strings on a harp?

It is difficult to place my fingers on the right note because if you don't put your finger in the exact place, then it won't sound good. I hope you will continue to leave me some comments!

      Sincerely,
      Sarah

  3. Sarah, I heard you play both the piano and violin this past Saturday. You were fantastic! I can't believe how far you have progressed. I agree, it is very difficult not to have the violin sound squeaky, but practice makes perfect, right?! I can't wait to hear you play the viola too!

    Love,

    Elana

  4. My dear grand Sarah!
I won*t be tired to tell you how much I love you for
being such a hard worker. I think you improved your violin
playing much. I can hear beautiful sounds and your own
understanding the music you are playing.
Gymnasticks, piano, violin, orchestra, tennis and it*s not easy to be Mrs Yollis*s student. Is it not enough for a girl 8 years old? I respect your wish to play viola also but
where can you take time and strengths for other things to do
it*s too much for one beautiful talented girl.I advice you to play violin . I think it*s yours instrument. You may not
agree with me but you aren*t indifferent to me and I*m
afraid for your health most of all.
    Love
    Grandma Mila

  5. Dear Sarah,

I enjoyed your post and watching you playing the violin. Well done!
I no longer am learning to play the piano as I am having a break. But I have started Musical Theatre which I am enjoying.
I have made some new friends too.

Keep on playing because you are doing an outstanding job.

    From your pal,

      Dear BB,

Thank you so much for taking your time and leaving me such a lovely comment. I have some questions for you:

What is Musical Theatre? (In American we spell Theater)

Do you like playing the piano or do you like Musical Theatre better?

I hope you will continue to leave me some lovely comments!

      Sincerely,
      Sarah

  6. Dear Sarah,

You played beautifully! I love this song! I play the piano, but I don't have a favorite instrument to listen to. Although, I love to listen to all of the instruments in the orchestra. What is your instrument to listen too?

    Love,
    ♥Miriam♥
