My Spring Orchestra Concert

Recently, I had a Spring Orchestra Concert and this was my second performance. We practiced every Saturday for 3 months and played the following pieces.
  •  Medieval Legend by Michael Story.
  • Three Pieces of Bach by J.S. Bach
    • Sarabande
    • Minuet
    • Rondo.
  • Adagio Cantabile  (from Pathetique Sonata) by Ludwig van Beethoven
  • Mozart Alleluia  by W.A. Mozart
  • Cellos Ole! by Richard Meyer
The Medieval Legend is very loud and gets everyone's attention. It was the first piece that we played. Can you here how loud it is? Next, we played 3 pieces by Bach. The first movement was quiet and slow. The second sounded like butterflies flying in nature. It was a light song. The third movement was also loud and fast like Medieval Legend. Then we played Mozart Alleluia.  It is similar to Minuet because it has  light bows and has a friendly melody. The final song was Cellos Ole, a song mainly for the cellos. The violins and violas play soft and quiet and but the cellos play very loud. The cellos had a fun time playing this piece. It has many dramatic moments.

The concert was so long that my mom only had enough room to film the first 3 pieces.

Which piece did you like best?

  1. Dear Sarah,
Your orchestra is great, I am very glad you have such a wonderful experience playing in an orchestra, you have a very nice conductor and she can bring all of you together and create an orchestra, it's a very difficult job, but she is great and a very lovely person. We can barely see your face, you probably the youngest, but you are very confident and that's helps you to keep up with the older and more experienced kids. Lovely music and great performance. We are very proud of you,
    Love you,
    Grandma Tanya and Grandpa Eugene

    1. Dear Grandma Tanya and Grandpa Eugene,

Thank you so much for leaving me such a lovely comment. I agree with you, my conductor was really nice and taught us many pieces. My favorite piece was by Mozart. It was beautiful.

It is pretty difficult to stay together with the other people, but we finally succeeded. I hope you will visit my blog again!

      Sincerely,
      Sarah

  2. Dear Sarah,

Another fantastic performance with your orchestra! Terrific!

It was fun to play your music while we were playing Silent Speed Ball the other day! Don't you agree!

I really liked the way you describe the musical pieces you played. You said that one part sounded like butterflies flying in nature. I love that!

What is the age range of the people in your group?

    Your proud teacher,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

    1. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

Thank you so much for leaving me such a lovely comment. I also liked playing Silent Speed Ball while we were listening to my music.

The age range for the kids in the orchestra is mostly 9 to 14 years old. I am the youngest of them all. All the kids are really nice to me so it doesn't matter being the youngest.

      Sincerely,
      Sarah

  3. Dear Sarah,

I enjoyed listening to the sections of music your mom was able to record. I think it would be wonderful to be able to play in such a concert.

I see you are a violinist. I have known other students who loved the violin. One former student in one of my classes was also a violinist. She had gained a position on the Sydney Youth Orchestra. She was a very capable young violist but she would be an adult now and I have lost track of her progress.

While I like all of the stringed instruments, the cello would be my favourite because of its deeper sound. Have you heard of Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1? I particularly like the prelude.

In my music collection, I have some violin CDs. Have you heard of Vanessa Mae or Nigel Kennedy? They are violinists who were able to bring the violin into the more popular music world. I love the way they were able to show how cool it can be to play the violin.

Which piece did I like best? I’ve always had a liking for Bach’s minuets. I particularly liked his Minuet in G. Can you play this?

With such talent, I hope you continue with the violin. Music can enrich your life. It does in mine. ☺

    1. Dear Ross Mannell,

Thank you so much for leaving me such a lovely comment. I really enjoy all of the wonderful comments you always leave on my blog. i have never heard of the piece Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1. My little sister plays Minuet in G on the piano. In fact, we just recorded this song Hannah playing on the piano and me playing on the violin. I am going to do a post on it soon!

You wrote really interesting facts about Vanessa Mae or Nigel Kennedy. Again I've never heard. Do you know about Midori?

      Sincerely,
      Sarah

  4. Dear Sarah,

I absolutely love all of your music posts, and whenever there is a new one, I have to check it out! I love the sound of the violin. I think that it is very soothing and relaxing.

My favorite piece would be Back Minuet and Rondo. The best part of it was the rhythm in my opinion. I thought that it was really fun to play Silent Speed Ball while listening to your graceful music.

I hope you do many more piano and violin posts because I love to hear you play instruments!

    Sincerely,
    M♥a
